From Classroom to Capitol: IMSA Students Fuel Policy Change

Jordan Henry '25 (Hoffman Estates) is making a meaningful impact on public health policy in Illinois. Her research and data collection played a key role in the introduction of House Bill 1910, sponsored by State Representative Anna Moeller.

The bill addresses the state’s ongoing opioid crisis by equipping public libraries with opioid antagonists like naloxone and allowing trained staff to administer the medication during overdose emergencies on library grounds or at library-sponsored events. Jordan's work was recently featured on WGN News.

Sai Ganbote '26 (Aurora) and Abhinav Anne '26 (Plainfield) have contributed to drafting House Bill 2960, aimed at improving access to mental health education for students statewide. Drawing from personal experiences with friends and family navigating mental healthcare, they are dedicated to making support more accessible for students.

The students' work was also highlighted on WGN News, underscoring how students, empowered through IMSA’s inquiry-based education, can contribute to real-world solutions that directly benefit Illinois communities.
